Free Health Camp
On a bright winter morning, Fast Aid Hospital set up a free health camp at a village community centre in Chauddagram. People from the surrounding unions arrived early, many of them walking long distances because they had never had a proper health check. Our physicians, nurses and laboratory technicians worked side by side from morning until late afternoon.
More than six hundred patients were screened for high blood pressure, diabetes and common infections, and every visitor received a free consultation and medicine. Those who needed further tests were guided to our Chauddagram diagnostic centre, and a few serious cases were referred for admission so they could receive treatment without delay.
The Challenge
Many families in rural Chauddagram cannot easily afford transport, consultation fees and tests, so they wait until an illness becomes serious. This camp was designed to remove those barriers and bring basic screening, advice and treatment directly to their doorstep.
What We Did
We set up shaded consultation areas, a blood-pressure and blood-sugar screening desk and a small dispensary, and we staffed the camp with physicians, nurses and laboratory technicians from the hospital. Volunteers helped with registration, queuing and health education so that every patient was seen politely and without a long wait.
- Free consultation, blood-pressure and blood-sugar screening for every visitor
- On-site medicines and basic treatment at no cost
- Health education on dengue prevention, hygiene and safe drinking water
- Referral and follow-up support for patients who needed further care
- Priority help for elderly people, mothers and young children
The camp showed how much can be achieved when a hospital reaches out to the community it serves. Because of the response, Fast Aid Hospital now plans to hold regular health camps throughout the year, covering more villages and offering screenings for heart, kidney and child health alongside general medicine.
